Grimsley’s Carter Smith headed to Randolph College on Rivermont Avenue in Lynchburg, Virginia

The Grimsley Whirlies All Metro 4-A goalkeeper, Carter Smith, has signed to play at Randolph College in Lynchburg, VA.

The Wildcats, coached by Bryan Waggoner, are a member of the ODAC Conference and coming off a 6th place finish in just their 2nd year in this league.

Guilford College is a member of the ODAC, so he’ll get a chance to play in Greensboro
again, during their conference match with the Quakers.

He’s very excited about this tradition rich school and Coach Waggoner is bringing
in a strong class for the upcoming 2010 season. Along with the Whirlies and the Smith family, we are all very proud of his accomplishments and it looks like all the years of Carter Smith traveling to matches all over the East Coast and the many practices with his GYSA classic team has paid off..

Good job Carter Smith, good job Whirlies, and good luck Randolph College soccer. Many years ago, I would spend time around this time of the year, in the Randolph Macon College Library up on Rivermont Avenue in Lynchburg, studying for those Final Exams….

Over at my college, I was usually on the run, so I was able to find my way up to RMWC and I could hide out in their library till the coast was clear and I then I could head on home for the night and ace all of those finals…..I did well in my creative writing classes and many have wondered over the years, if I had a hand in the writing/signing of the Arizona Declaration of Independence, and in short form the answer is, “I did not”………
