Honors for Greensboro College Athletes in May

Rebecca Pink (Apex, NC/Apex) and Nick Patrone (Supply, NC/Apex) have been named Greensboro College’s student-athletes of the month for May.

Patrone ended his four-year Pride career first all-time in ground balls (208), fourth in goals (90) and seventh in points (111). He netted a team-high 29 goals in 2010.

Patrone helped GC to a 9-6 record, tying the third most wins in program history. Pride men’s lacrosse also recently won the “Pride of Service Award” for their dedication to community service.

A senior, he carries a 3.5 grade point average, majors in business finance and will graduate in May. Patrone has earned spots on the USA South All Academic Team and the Greensboro College Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

“Nick is someone who will always give 110% of his time and energy,” said Coach Dan Cetrone. “He is a great example of what a Greensboro College Student Athlete should be and will be missed a ton next year on the Men’s Lacrosse team, and on the Greensboro College campus.”

Pink has had a season to remember. She has batted .458 for Pride softball and helped the team to its first ever USA South championship and NCAA bid.

Last month, she earned both the conference player of the year award and was later picked MVP of the USA South tournament after hitting .688.

Pink majors in business and carries a 3.5 grade point average.

“Becca’s numbers and honors speak for themselves but she is quick to credit her 17 teammates,” said GC Head Coach Whitney Gelin . “Even though she’s having an outstanding season on the field, it’s her leadership that pleases me most.
