Man, that stinks for Williams and Robert Register. Register was the favorite to win States individually and Williams was the favorite to win the team competition.

Oh, and I might I add, look at Rockingham County coming out of no where and getting one stroke off of making States. They held up as their conference foes Morehead and Williams fell by the way side.

Congrats to N. Guilford and Ledford, not Cardinal Gibbons. I still don’t approve of Cardinal Gibbons, a private school, being able to compete against public schools. There is a separate league for private schools. Cardinal Gibbons probably recruited the majority of their team.

Great job by Coach Jones and the Nighthawks. They have gotten better as the year progressed. Williams was beating them consistently at the beginning of the year and now the tides have turned. Good Luck in the state championship.

Don’t cry for Robert Register. He commited to unc over a year ago on a golf scholarship. I was just as surprised to see that Williams did not make States but just goes to show the depth of golf talent around here. Williams has been a consistent golf powerhouse for decades. One year doesn’t change that. It’s like saying unc can’t play basketball.
