Our headline and the one you saw in the N&R’s hard copy may have looked the same, but that’s just me thinking like a newspaper owner…..Or a headline writer or whatever they call those people….

At this time of the year, all the outlets start to look the same, just like back in the days of ESP, The Spectator, Triad Style, Omega News, The Ad-venturer, The Pleasant Garden Post, The Guilfordian, The Patriot, The Greater Greensboro Observer(GGO) and even the Carolina Peacemaker.

Good Job by the Whirlies to come back from 4-0 deficit early in the 1st quarter, set the pace from then on and execute with the game on the line . A hard fought contest by two evenly-matched squads. You just got the sense that NW was playing from behind after the Grimsley comeback, even when NW tied or went ahead by one momentarily.

The navy blue clad fans came out to in mass to support their boys as the visitors side easily outnumbered the NW home side. Vocal support was a key element in the win as the Whirlie players definitely fed off the crowd excitement.

Good Luck to Grimsley as they head to Charlotte. Even though the Whirlies will be the under dog once again on the road, this is definitely a winable game as Myers Park beat Grimsley in a close contest earlier in the season.

Another revenge would be sweet but a trip to Cary by Whirlie Nation next weekend would be exceptionally nice…

Really… were you even there??? There is no way that the Whilrie fans outnumbered the home crowd. The visitor stands were sparcely filled. It was a great game though, I just kept waiting for NW to hit the gas like they had all year long and blow it open. Unfortunately they didnt have anything left by the end of the fourth quarter.
