Greensboro College will start off as #6 on Day Three of DIII Golf: Honors for Elder and Nihart

Hershey, Pa. — The Greensboro College golf team is tied for sixth after two days of the NCAA Championships. The Pride shot a round two 308 on the more difficult country club course on Wednesday. Ben Nihart (Winston-Salem, NC/(home school)) again shot GC’s low score with a 73.

The Pride’s 609 score after two rounds is 12 strokes behind leader Methodist after Monarchs fired a 290 on the links course.

Other GC scoring on Wednesday: Josh Nichols (Waxhaw, NC/West Fosyth), 77; Brock Elder (Greensboro, NC/Vandalia Christian), 78, Connor Kennedy (Siler City, NC/Jordan Matthews High School), 79, and Clint Dillon (Madison, NC/Dalton L. McMichael), 88.

“Like most teams, we’re happy to get back to the Links course on Thursday,” said GC Head Coach Dirk Fennie. “We could’ve shot better today but are in good position heading to the final two rounds.”

Hershey, Pa. — Greensboro College golfers Brock Elder and Ben Nihart were named to the Ping All Region team. The announcement came at the awards banquet on Tuesday night at the NCAA Division III golf championships.

Elder leads GC with a 74.2 stroke average and is ranked 10th nationally. He was named to the USA South first team and was the medalist at Pine Needles, which The Pride won.

Nihart was the top finisher for GC in the USA South championship (seventh), He is ranked No. 11 nationally and placed in the top 10 in seven events this year.

The Pride entered the second day of the tournament in fourth place on Wednesday. Nihart led GC with a +1 73 on Tuesday.
