1st inning…..

Comment from NEG coach in today’s News and Record:

This is one of the best hitting teams I’ve ever coached. We’ve hit 41 home runs this season. We just didn’t hit tonight,” Lawing said. “We came in here with a lot of confidence. We felt good about our chances. One day you’re on top and the next you’re gone.”

Lawing said he gave his team the usual speech about how you’ve got to lose unless you win it all, but he knows his players will have a hard time swallowing such a lopsided lose to end the season.

“I’m proud of them and the things we have done this season,” Lawing said. “I hope after they think about it for a couple of days, they realize what a good season we had. We’re a young team so we’ll be back next year.”
