Walmart Honors Grasshoppers Pitcher Curt Petersen

Baseball Player’s Parking Lot Heroics Earns Him a Good Samaritan Award

GREENSBORO, NC:Curt Petersen, the 20-year-old Greensboro
Grasshoppers pitcher who thwarted a purse snatching and car jacking in a
Walmart parking lot in April, was honored Sunday, May 23 at the Grasshoppers
game vs. Lexington (KY) Legends.

To thank Petersen, Walmart purchased 1000 tickets to the 4:00 game for
Walmert customers, Associates and underprivileged youth throughout the
Piedmont region of North Carolina.

Walmart Market Manager Greg Bradley made a special presentation to Petersen.
He said, “On April 7, 2010 you showed tremendous courage and selflessness in
thwarting a crime in the act at our Battleground Avenue Walmart here in
Greensboro. Today, our hats are off to you. We celebrate you as a true
hero, a good example of what is right with American. Curt Petersen, you are
a Good Samaritan. Thank you from all of us at Walmart.” Walmart Associates
were on hand to distribute reusable shopping bags to all who attended the
game.

About Curtis Petersen:

Petersen, a native of Aubrey, Texas, is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound
right-hander from Aubrey, Texas. He is in his second pro season and is the
fifth starter in Greensboro’s rotation.
