Greensboro College announces Soccer Commitments

Jonathon “Tyler” Beall, Anthony Melton and Woody Wilder have committed to play soccer at Greensboro College, announced Pride Head Coach Giovanni Vlahos.

A 5’8, 120 pound defender, Beall is from Midway, NC. He played for the North Davidson Sidekicks and at North Davidson High School where he was the team’s assists leader the past two seasons. Beall is the son of Greg and Pam and was admitted to GC’s honors priogram.

Wilder is a 5’11, 200 pound goalkeeper from Wytheville, Va. The son of Alan and Kim Wilder, he played for the Radford Soccer Club and George Wythe High School. During his prpe career, Wilder earned Hogoheegee District POY Honors, 1st Team All Region C Honors, 1st Team All-State A Honors as well as being named All-State.

Melton is a 6’0, 165 pound defender from China Groove, NC. He played for Jesse Carson High School where he captained his team as a senior. Melton also competed at the Charlotte Sports Complex adult league and Team Boca of the Mexican Adult League. He is the son of Robert and Anna Worrel.

“I’m excited about having these three young men join our program,” Vlahos said. “Goalkeeping was our number one recruiting need and Woody will bring quality to our squad. Tyler exhibits great passing skills as a defensive midfielder and should be a great teammate. Anthony has desire, drive and will push his teammates to work harder on and off the pitch.”

Greensboro College is primarily an undergraduate college, also offering four master’s degrees. Coeducational and independent, the institution is located near downtown Greensboro. It was founded in 1838 and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

The college enrolls about 1,260 students from about 30 states, the District of Columbia and 21 nations. The school features a strong liberal-arts program and a 16-sport athletic program.
