Will Major League Baseball start looking at four-man pitching rotations?

New Texas Rangers part-owner Nolan Ryan is calling for it and how long will it be, before we start seeing starting pitching staffs with a four-man rotation, in the major leagues…..

Ryan says this will help to develop pitchers and he also says that it will speed up the game, since the coaches won’t be as apt to make so many pitching changes….

Josh Johnson is set to go for the Florida Marlins again on Tuesday and he just pitched and got a win versus the Phillies and Roy Halladay last Thursday, so that would be pitching on four days rest, but you have to consider the off-day for the Marlins today(Monday) and that means three days off in the rotation……

Johnson looks like he is one of those that can go and he will tomorrow night and this might lead to a more closer look at having real closers that go three innings instead of one and even more cases where pitchers are tossing nine-inning complete games as we hit early June…..

Three pitchers for the game, with the starter going five, mid-relief going 2 and the closer going 2-3 innings…..

Shorten the staff and you can carry more position players and if one guy goes down then you have a man ready and don’t have to make that emergency call to the minors…..
