Maurice Harris(Northern Guilford HS) commits to Californina

From www.espn.com and the espninsider.go.com comes this football news on Maurice Harris from Northern Guilford committing to the University of California……

Rated four-stars and No. 14 among receivers nationally, Maurice Harris of Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.), has pledged to the Pac-10 Bears for the Class of 2011.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound standout was also offered by Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina and North Carolina State, among many others.

ESPN’s Tom Luginbill added, “Harris is a big and physical prospect that may be a bit different than what Cal has been playing with out wide. He is tall and a very good athlete that has excellent upside as a jump ball and redzone target. He makes more plays with the ball in his hands after that catch than you might think.”

Harris, as a junior, caught 47 passes for 1210 yards and 18 touchdowns.

He will join two cousins at California, including 2010 signee Keenan Allen of Northern Guilford (Greensboro) and a transfer from Buffalo in quarterback Zach Maynard of Grimsley (Greensboro).

The Bears now have six commitments.

  1. I think what the ol’ bawl coach means here is that family sticks together and stays together….

Brothers and cousins are all family and blood is thicker than water…..

Those that grow up and play together, stay together……

Ol’ Bawl Coach also said, nuff said and he is probably right again……

  2. Good luck to Maurice! It is a great football school and it is one of the best academic institutions in America. It is on par with Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc…. I hope he is ready to hit the books because he will earn his degree at Cal.

  3. Andy you probably want post this but I thought I would try.
But you know it’s the truth.

Same way, you are probably correct with your assupmtions, but we still have to take the road on this trip and you’ll keep the guys at the toll booth guessing….

  4. PLEASE consider that one of our very own Guilford County student athletes has received an offer to attend college when you write your comments. When we travel, we all represent Guilford County and we ALL are proud of our local players. As a side note, wouldn’t you grab the opportunity to play football with your cousins at a great college? Remember, these are kids and they are living the dream of continuing to play the game they love TOGETHER and getting a great education. Thanks for listening.

  5. Welcome to California, the Bay Area and the bright Blue Pacific! This school will give you all you can handle and a degree worth earning. Cal Pride!
