More on Region 5 Gold Medal game at the State Games of North Carolina

Region 5 defeated Region 6 by a score of 4 – 2 to win the gold medal at
the 2010 State Games of NC. Region 6 consists of players from the
Charlotte/Mecklenburg County area. Region 5 used dominant pitching and
timely hitting throughout the tournament to win the gold. In the
championship game, Region 5 held an outstanding Region 6 hitting lineup
to only 2 hits on the day. Jordan Ramsey of North Davidson HS (UNCW
commit) started for Region 5 and limited Region 6 to 1 run on 1 hit over
3 innings. Ryan Mayhew of West Forsyth HS (UNCW commit) pitched 3
innings in relief and held the talented lineup to 1 run on 1 hit to get
the win. Keaton Haack of Northwest Guilford HS pitched the 7th inning
and gave up no hits to get the save. Josh Clark of West Forsyth HS led
Region 5 at the plate with a 2 run homer. Bradley Morton of Mt. Tabor
HS had a RBI double to put Region 5 up for good late in the game.
