GBC Prepstars grab big win at World Wood Bat Championships on Thursday night

GBC Prepstars took on the other undeated All American Prospects team from Miami
Thursday night. All American Prospects has a D1 player at every position, going to schools such as Miami, Stetson, LSU, Kentucky etc. GBC only managed two hits against a great lefty that will attend Stetson University in the fall. Over 20 scouts from
schools like Miami, Maryland, Army, Florida, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, etc were there to
watch the showdown at 7 pm at the East Cobb Complex and GBC stays unbeaten with a
great 4-3 victory over one of the tournament favorites.

AAP took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd to go up 1-0. In the top of the 3rd,
Casey Jones drew a leadoff walk, Cal Sutphin bunted him to 2b, he moved to 3b on a
pass ball and he scored off Sawyer Highfill’s grounder to short for an rbi. In the
bottom of the 4th, AAP put together a couple of hits and stolen bases to go up 3-1,
it stayed that way till the top of the 6th. Two infield errors put two men on for
GBC, Tiger Miller had an rbi single to right that plated the 2nd run and put runners
on the corners with two outs, Jonathan Bethea then roped an opposite field double to
score both runners to put GBC up 4-3.

Andrew McNeill from Southern Lee pitched a complete game to pick up the win, he got
stronger as the night went on, retiring the side in order in both the sixth and
seventh innings.

GBC take on a team from Long Island on Friday morning at 11:30 and then will face
Team Elite on Saturday morning for the pool championship.
