From Scott Fowler, Charlotte Observer, on Matthews Butler quarterback Christian LeMay, being able to play this year, in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools system……
Christian LeMay quarterbacked Butler High to a state championship during 2009 and is ranked by The Sporting News as the nation’s No.1 college quarterback prospect.
LeMay knows where he’s going to play in college – the rising senior has committed to Georgia. But where he will play his senior year of high school is still in limbo and might stay that way until late August.
Returning to Butler remains LeMay’s first choice, but transferring to one of the private high schools in Charlotte also is an option because of a disciplinary issue that has yet to be resolved.
On Tuesday, Stacy LeMay talked at length about his oldest son’s future during an interview with the Observer. Christian LeMay has been suspended from Butler for 30 school days by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for what his father terms a “youthful infraction” that occurred near the end of the 2009-10 school year.
What did his son do? Stacy LeMay didn’t want to discuss it. He did say: “It did not include drugs, weapons or any form of violence.”
