16u Gaters with all Guilford County kids win Hot Shots at Myrtle Beach, on the way to Peachtree in Georgia

The 16u Greensboro Gaters, with all Guilford County kids and coached by Greensboro Day School product and UNC-grad Robert Johnson, won the Hots Shots 1 Tournament for the first time ever this weekend, at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina….They hit the Hot Shots, coming out of the Prep All-Stars at UNC-Charlotte and now they are in Georgia for the Peachtree Classic….

Here’s a look at the kids that are on the team and more on how the Greensboro Gaters are doing….Good to see all of our local teams putting on such a good show in Myrtle Beach….

Let’s go inside with the Gaters…..

Quayshad Williams -(GDS), Adam Coble -(Westchester), Davis Tucker (Westchester), Robert Kleinman -(GDS), Reed Lucas -(GDS), John McBeth -Northern, Jackson Kent – (Page), Jake White -(GDS), Jalen Ross -(GDS), Lee Sweeney -(Grimsley).

They won the Big Shots Myrtle Beach 1 against a team from Maryland called Crusader Nation & Lee Sweeney was the MVP.

They lost in the championship Sunday night, of the Hot Shots 2, to the Virginia Cardinals. They were 7-1 in the 4 days, that were 2 separate tournaments.

They now are 9-1 heading to the Peach State because they also went 2-0 at Prep All-Stars in Charlotte. Quayshad Williams & Robert Kleinman played the best behind MVP Lee Sweeney.

  1. Congratulations, I seen this team play at the Sportsplex and they are a GOOD TEAM. Well coached and they play hard ,but I didt see the Rankin kid name that goes to ORMA? the games I saw he was the best player on the team he had about 20 to 25 pst ever game.

  2. The Rankin kid is a very good player. He played in the spring with the team but is playing with
    Oak Ridge for the summer since it’s his high school team.
