THE TROPHY The U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship
Trophy was presented in 1922 by James D. Standish Jr., the central figure in
organizing the championship. He served on the USGA Executive Committee for
13 years, including two years as president (1950-51).

APL HISTORY This is the 85th U.S. Amateur Public Links
Championship. The championship has been an unqualified success since its
inception in 1922, giving exposure to many public-course players who
otherwise might not have an opportunity to compete in a national
championship.

Professional major
championship winners who have competed in the APL include U.S. Open
champions Tommy Bolt, Ed Furgol, David Graham and Ken Venturi; Masters
champions George Archer and Trevor Immelman; British Open champions Ben
Curtis and Tony Lema; and PGA Championship winners Rich Beem, Walter
Burkemo, Graham, Bob Hamilton, Dave Marr and Bobby Nichols.

Billy Mayfair, two-time champion Ryan Moore and Colt Knost are the only
players to have captured the U.S. Amateur and APL titles, the latter two
doing it in the same year. Carl Kauffmann is the only player to have won the
APL three times, doing so in consecutive years from 1927-29. Seven others
have won it twice.

APL WINNERS APL champions who have gone on to
professional careers include David Berganio

SUCCESSFUL ON TOUR Jr., Tim Clark, Hunter Haas, Trevor Immelman, Billy
Mayfair, Ryan Moore, Jodie Mudd, Chez Reavie, Brandt Snedeker and D.J.
Trahan.

USGA CHAMPIONSHIPS The 2010 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship is the
first USGA championship to

IN NORTH CAROLINA be conducted at Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center.
North Carolina has hosted 24 USGA championships, including the 1986 APL at
Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, where Billy Mayfair defeated Jim Sorenson in
the final, 3 and 2.

The 2010 U.S. Girls’ Junior
Championship will be held at The Country Club of North Carolina in Village
of Pinehurst, July 19-24. In addition, the 2010 U.S. Women’s Amateur
Championship will be played at Charlotte Country Club, Aug. 9-15, giving
North Carolina a total of 27 USGA events at year’s end.

In 2014, the U.S. Open and
U.S. Women’s Open will be held at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Village
of Pinehurst, marking the first time both USGA national championships will
be played back-to-back at the same venue. The U.S. Open will be held June
12-15, and the U.S. Women’s Open will be played June 19-22.

FUTURE SITES In 2011, the U.S. Amateur Public Links
Championship will be played June 27-July 2 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in
Bandon, Ore. The 2012 championship will be played July 9-14 at Soldier
Hollow Golf Club in Midway, Utah. It will be the first USGA championship

  1. andy, wanted to let you know that i have a new found respect for the caddies. I am participating as a caddie in the us public links tournament and just try to walk a whole golf course as hilly as the champions course , amazing. It is tougher than i thought. It looks like my participant probably won’t make the cut will see tomorrow but will be more than happy to go home and recuperate. Caddies are incredible.

  2. what are the reslults after today, who made
the cut to play in the match play part of the week/
