Behind the Scenes At the Grasshoppers – Tarp Crew

Most of the time, Grasshopper fans don’t have the opportunity to see the Tarp removed from the Infield. The idea is to place a tarp – roughly 160 feet square over the Infield to keep the basepaths dry and in playing condition during a rain storm. After the rains have passed, the Grounds Crew calls in as many folks as they can to remove the tarp.

The tarp is pulled back, often with water still on it. It is folded several times, before it is rolled up on a tube. Ready from the next rain fall. The entire process takes about 8 minutes.
