Michael Neal committed today to attend Appalachian State Univeristy in Boone, N.C., where he plans to play basletball for Jason Capel…..Capel, the former Greensboro Day School guard as an eighth grader, has picked himself up a point in Michael Neal, who was at Northern Guilford in 2008/2009, before entering Oak Ridge Military Academy in 2009/2010….
I enjoyed watching Michael, while he was at Northern, with Jonathan Frye and company and I did not see him hardly any at all last sesaon, since he was injured early in the year at ORMA….(Neal also broke his foot this summer.)
I find it very intresting studying the points guards, plus in and around Guilford County, we have some very good ones….
Good luck to Michael Neal, as he looks ahead to basketball in college, at Appalachian in 2011/2012…..

You and some of your readers do a good job at shedding light on some of the inner workings of getting to the next level. Here is my question for you and/or some of the experts in the area in the know:
How on the same day we hear about a verbal offer and acceptance from one of our areas point guards, the same day the Charlotte Observer report about a high profile transfer to the same school of a player that plays virtually the same position and the player left a major D-I school (Gonzaga) because of the lack of playing time and ability to compete for playing time?

Is it common for a coach to bring in 2 PG’s in the same year and play them both? I know Calipari did it with Wall and Bledsoe.
