Bill White Scholarship Fund winners announced

WILLIAM J. WHITE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The William J. White Scholarship Fund was established in 1980 following the death of Bill White. Bill was responsible for starting Colt Baseball (15 & 16 year olds) in 1965. (The Guilford County Sports Hall of fame is inducting Bill this September for his many contributions to area youth.) The fund awards scholarships each summer to former Colt Leaguers who are entering a college or university. Bobby Dawson was the first recipient in 1981, and since then 155 scholarships have been awarded exceeding $100,000, including the ones below. The 2010 recipients of the Bill White Scholarships are as follows:

The scholarships will be presented on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, between opening night games of the Colt East Zone Tournament held at Stoner-White Stadium at Jaycee Park in Greensboro. The time for the presentations is 8:00. In case of rain, the presentations will occur underneath the press box.
