  1. This team will win the Colt World Series!!!! It is the best team to ever come out of Greensboro and go to Lafayette. At least the team keeps on going back. The umpires only got one trip and they ended up playing golf after the first day. LOL!!!!!!

  2. Wow!!!! That’s saying a lot because there have been some might fine teams come out of Greensboro over the years (actually some might fine teams have not made it out for a variety of reasons too). I have to believe that comment is based on today’s competition level, as I can’t believe it’s the same as 10-20 years ago just because the players are torn in too many directions with American Legion, travel teams, showcase tournaments, etc..
We shall see, but that would be great if they win ( my bet in order Texas, California, PR, and then GSO).

  3. I have to agree with mr. willis—–there have been some excellent, well-coached teams venture to the colt world series over the years without a championship since the ’60s. stoner white may have seen a lot more of these teams than i have, but i know that from the mid-’80s to the mid ’90s there were some fine teams that never won it all or even came close—there was a run there where one group of players went to the bronco, pony, and colt world series but didn’t win—we will see, but we all wish them the best of luck!
the best team ever was the ’92 team in my opinion!

  4. I’m glad the folks back home are excited about this team. To say that this present Greensboro team is even considered to be among one of the top 5 teams is quite a compliment considering the high degree of talent that has come thru the Gate City over the many years. Time will tell if this team has what it takes to win it all.

The weather here in Lafayettte is absolutely beautiful with sunshine, a high of 83 degrees and no humidity. Quite a change from the sweltering NC heat that we left. One of the boys made a comment that it felt like springtime.

This is the City’s signature event so the whole town really gets into it. We have seen a tremendous amount of hospitality especially from the host families that have graciously volunteered to open up their homes and take in all of the boys from all of the teams. They put their lives on hold for a week to feed, wash clothes, entertain and shuttle the boys wherever they need to go. They are very special people.

The town is shutting down the downtown area tonight for a large party for all of the teams, famlies and the local people. I understand that it is a really big deal. The boys are looking forward to the party because they have heard that hundreds of teenage girls attend, seeking autographs and treating the boys like rock stars. It should be hilarious and fun to watch.

Then on Saturday afternoon, the real fun starts…….

  5. this team is good, but they are not the best team to ever come out of greensboro. just to think back on the 2006 team, who was probably one of the best…. this years team could not hang with that team

  6. I played on the 93 team and we were LOADED!! but have to agree with bobby, that 92 team was flat out nasty!! They would have won it if it wasnt for a few errors.

  7. The 1982 and 1983 teams were also loaded and i think a player actually holds the home run record for the colt league world series.

  8. mccann should b mvp great job gboro those northeast kids mccann davis colon r strong would love to see them boys start to hit hr and put on a show

  9. I’m looking at the Colt World Series records as listed in this years program. It reads as follows:

    MOST HOME RUNS, GAME, INDIVIDUAL:
    Patrick Parr, Greensboro, NC (1982)……..(2)
There are (5) other players tied with (2) home runs in a single game

    ************************************************

    MOST HOME RUNS, SERIES, INDIVIDUAL:
    Patrick Parr, Greensboro, NC (1982)……..(3)
    Guadalupe Lopez, McAllen, TX (2008)……(3)

These are the only records held by Greensboro as listed within the program.
