Guilford College volleyball off to a smashing/spiking/killing start

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s volleyball team improved to 5-1 for
the first time since 1992 with a convincing 25-6, 25-15, 25-22 nonconference
win over visiting Ferrum College Tuesday night.

Guilford trailed in the third set by scores of 12-2 and 17-7 before rallying
for its fourth straight victory. Junior Traci Teague had six kills on .667
hitting and rookie Malikah French added five putaways on .800 hitting to
lead the Quakers’ hitters. Taylor Whitley, Taylor Phillips and Meredith
Foscue shared team-high assists honors with six apiece. Mary Moody
contributed a pair of aces, a team-high six digs and two kills.

Rachel Stratton had four kills and five digs for Ferrum (0-2). Leah Quinones
added an ace and a game-high nine assists.

The Quakers return to action Friday (9/10) versus Greensboro College and
Peace College in the Greensboro College Tournament.
