Carpenter kid doing good with northern exposure at NMH

Tommy Carpenter grew up playing hoops on the local AAU scene in and around Guilford/Forsyth counties and now the young son of Ron Carpenter is getting a little northern exposure on the prep school scene up in Massachusetts…..

Now these days, Tommy Carpenter is playing basketball in prep school, at Northfield Mt Hermon in MA. He grew up playing for Delaney Rudd on the Phoenix team and for Bill Chambers at Kernodle Middle School. He did his first two years at WS Reynolds when his brother Will Carpenter was there.

Tommy Carpenter broke his hand before his freshman season and his ankle before his sophomore season. With all of his orthopedic issues, he decided to reclass and repeated his sophomore year last year at Northfield Mount Herman.

They had a great team at NMH last year, giving Hargrave its only loss of the year
and losing to Brewster in double OT in the National Prep Championship.

Their coach, John Carroll is coming forward with another good team. Its a little different in that they raise many of their own players – only four PGs this year. Also, high academics. With eight alums on Ivy League rosters, they had the highest penetration in the Ivies of any high school in the country.

With the developments at Greensboro Day School and at Oak Ridge Military Academy, plus the moves by key talents like PJ Hairston to Hargrave Military Academy and Quincy Miller to Westchester Academy and many others all across the map, the preps and privates are starting to get a lot of pops and props……

from wikipedia.com on Northfield Mount Herman School:
Northfield Mount Hermon School (NMH) is a ninth-twelfth grade private, college preparatory school located near the Connecticut River in the town of Gill, Massachusetts, United States.
