Greensboro College Award Winners……
Dana Sandknop (Summerfield, NC/Northwest Guilford) and Allen Stallings (Manteo, NC/Manteo) earned weekly honors from the USA South, the conference announced today.
Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Dana Sandknop (Summerfield, NC/Northwest Guilford), a freshman setter, averaged 10.1 assists, 2.0 digs and 0.5 kills per set last week as the Avenging Angels posted a 4-1 record. In a 3-0 win at Randolph, Sandknop recorded 25 assists, six digs, three service aces, one kill and one block. In a 3-0 victory over Guilford, Sandknop contributed 25 assists, six kills, six digs, one service ace and one block. In a 3-1 win over Piedmont, Sandknop tallied 55 assists, seven digs and three blocks. In a 3-1 loss to Randolph-Macon, Sandknop totaled 33 assists, nine digs, two blocks and one service ace. Finally, in a 3-0, non-conference, win over Peace, Sandknop contributed 34 assists, six digs, one kill and one service ace.
Football Defensive Player of the Week
Allen Stallings (Manteo, NC/Manteo), a junior linebacker, had a game-high 14 tackles in a 28-6 loss to Emory & Henry. Stallings accounted for a game-high seven solo tackles and seven assisted take downs. He also totaled two tackles for ten yards lost, one sack for a loss of eight yards and one pass break-up in the loss.
Congrats Dana! Great kid from a great family. The community needs to go out and support Greensboro and Guilford College Athletics. The events are usually free and it is great family entertainment.
