USAS Conference honors come the way of Greensboro’s Allegro and Simpson

Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ) and Danielle Simpson (Mayodan, NC/McMichael) earned weekly conference honors, the USA South announced today.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ), Greensboro – The Statesville, North Carolina senior goalkeeper earned two shutouts in a 2-1 week for The Pride. In 270 minutes between the posts, Allegro allowed one goal while making 25 saves. In a 1-0 win over Guilford, Allegro went the distance and made eight saves to earn the shutout. In a 2-0 loss to Southern Virginia, Allegro again stopped eight shots. Finally, in 2-0 win over Washington & Lee, Allegro made nine saves to earn the shutout.

Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Danielle Simpson (Mayodan, NC/McMichael), Greensboro – The freshman libero from Mayodan, North Carolina averaged 4.9 digs and 0.5 kills per set last week as The Pride posted a 4-1 record all versus USA South competition. In a 3-1 win over Methodist, Simpson recorded 11 digs, one kill, one assist and one service ace. In a 3-0 victory over Mary Baldwin, Simpson tallied 13 digs, five kills, two service aces and two blocks. In a 3-0 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Simpson contributed 17 digs, two assists, one kill and one service ace. In a 3-0 victory over Ferrum, Simpson recorded 18 digs and two service aces. Finally, in a 3-0 loss to Christopher Newport, Simpson totaled 19 digs, one assist and one service ace.
