Greensboro College women’s soccer shuts out NC Wesleyan 4-0

Greensboro, N.C. — Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ) picked up her sixth shutout, and four different Pirde players scored, as Greensboro College beat NC Wesleyan, 4-0, on Saturday.

Freshman Sarah Lang (Greensboro, NC/Page) scored just 37 seconds into the match for the home team. Jessica Jameson (Columbus, OH/Davidson) earned the assist on Lang’s 7th tally (team-high) of the year.

In the 6th minute Meredith Kelly (Snow Camp, NC/Southern Alamance) tapped in a rebound of a Michelle Reger (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) shot for the 2-0.

It was 3-0 at the half after a Hannah Coats (Pfafftown, NC/Reagan) score in the 39th minute. Katie Timmons (Middletown, Del./William Penn) earned the assist on the scoring play.

Freshman Mary Randolph (Bowie, MD/Bowie) got the lone second half goal. She scored on a breakaway in the 63rd minute.

Allegro had 2 saves. Her counterpart, Rachel Townsend, stopped 11 GC shorts. The Pride led in shots, 21-4, and corner kicks, 5-0.

The Pride improved to 7-3-1, 3-1-1 and the Bishops dropped to 0-13, 0-3.

Prior to the match, fourth-year seniors Allegro, Timmons, Reger and Kelli Viana (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) were honored on senior day.

GC hosts Christopher Newport on Sunday at 2 p.m. in The Pride’s last scheduled home game.
