Greensboro College finds the road rocky at Rocky Mount in 48-12 loss to N.C. Wesleyan Bishops

Rocky Mount, N.C. — The Greensboro College football team lost at NC Wesleyan. 48-12, on Saturday. Jamal Smith ran for 3 touchdowns and 226 on 17 carries.

NCWC improved to 3-2 and 2-0 in the USA South. The Pride lost its fourth straight game and is 1-4, 0-2.

The Bishops led 38-0 before the visitors scored. Robert Byrd (Atlanta, GA/Grady ) scored on a one-yard run in the first half for GC. The touchdown capped a 12-play, 80 yard drive.

Jo Jo Turner (Alexandria, VA/Word of Life Christian Academy) caught a touchdown pass from Kall Daniel (Brookville, FL/Hernando) for the game’s final score. Making his first collegiate start, Daniel was 5-15 for 53 yards.

Allen Stallings (Manteo, NC/Manteo) and Cody McCray (Greensboro, NC /Ragsdale) both had 11 tackles for The Pride. Victor McKoy (Alexandria, VA/Randolph Macon Academy) led Greensboro in rushing with 46 yards on 5 carries.

The Bishops racked up 547 yards to 146 for GC.

GC hosts Ferrum on Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. It’s “Take a Kid to the Game,” and there will be a pre-game tailgate. Anyone donating to cancer awareness gets free food and drink.
