Page-Greensboro Day soccer ends in 1-1 tie

Boy’s Soccer Final:

Greensboro Day 1
Page 1

At the American Hebrew Academy and this is a very nice facility….Large crowd on hand to watch this game with Page, #3 in the nation in the ESPNRise.com poll, against the Bengals, who tied Page last year at Marion Kirby Stadium and that was the Page Pirate team that went on to win the State 4-A Championship, with Rob Lovejoy, Glen Long and mates……

In some ways tonight, Page tied Greensboro Day, because the Bengals led the Pirates 1-0, until the 15 minute mark of the second half….Page scored with 15 minutes remaining in the game and then controled the ball on their offensive side, for pretty much the rest of the contest…..

Solid game by both sides and a great turnout from both schools, with at least 1,000 fans, maybe 1,500 in attendance…..

Again, the American Hebrew Academy is a great place to watch a soccer game and on a beautiful fall night, it was the place to be in the Gate City(Tonight it was Soccer City)…..

Excellent sportsmanship turned in by both sides and these are two very talented clubs…..

Good job Page and Greensboro Day and we look forward to seeing what you guys do the rest of the season……

  1. A great match played by two courageous and great teams. Congratulations to all and what a great crowd I can’t wait for basketball season!!!!!

  2. Didn’t have to drive 8 mph for long….Parked up near the Hobbs Road gate. That place was packed….Great atmosphere for a ball game….

  3. Page(14-0-1)….from http://www.espnrise.com…..And CLICK HERE to go right to that poll…..The ESPNRise guys updated their poll later on today, with last week’s Pirates wins added in, but they did not get the tie with the Bengals in place and I still have to say for Page to be #3 in the Nation, that is real good….Greensboro Day was in this same poll earlier in the 2010 season and hey, they just tied the #3 team in the Nation…..Good stuff, all the way around….

    *****Greensboro Day adjusted to (15-2-2)*****

  4. If Page is to defend State title, they have to stop balls like the one that went right through the keeps hands. Hard ball but has to be stopped.
