The College Countdown continues with Lineback(ECU/SEG) leading the way from last weekend

Did you see that interception/pass breakup by Dustin Lineback(Southeast Guilford HS), for the East Carolina Pirates, in the win over N.C. State back on Saturday in Greenville, N.C.

Lineback, a linebacker wearing #47, looked like a defensive back going up along the sidelines, deep in coverage, to make the pick/breakup….I mean he went waaaaaay up there to take it away from the Wolfpack defender…..Frank Mickens showed the play last night on WFMY NEWS 2 at 11 and it was impressive…..Lineback was named the NEWS 2 College Kid to Watch last week….

Lineback had HUGE numbers on defense for ECU vs. State with 4 solo tackles and 10 assists for 14 total tackles….There was the interception, that East Carolina has listed as a pass breakup and Dustin also recovered a fumble and that makes for a career-game for the young man from Southeast Guilford High School, now wearing the Purple for ECU…….

Justin Venable, also from Southeast Guilford HS, had 1 solo tackle and one assist for the ECU Pirates in Saturday’s win over the Pack and the Pack’s David Amerson, a defensive back from Dudley, registered 3 solo tackles and 2 assists for the N.C. 1. What a game he had this past Saturday. He was everywhere but then again he has been doing it all year. Dustin was a special player of mine years ago and it is great seeing him excell. Justin Venable also played well. He is getting better each week. Way to go Southeast boys or should I say men! Go Pirates. Let’s paint the state, PURPLE!
