Guilford College Athletics update

Guilford’s football team dropped a 59-21 setback at Randolph-Macon College
Saturday. The Quakers’ Justin Parker made 10 catches for 109 yards in the
loss. Teammate David LaPlaca had a game-high 10 tackles and the Quakers’
Brad Gayhardt scored on an 88-yard fumble return.

The Quakers’ volleyball team swept two matches from visiting Virginia
Wesleyan College and Averett University Saturday. Guilford downed the
Marlins, 3-1, behind Mary Moody’s 14 kills and 22 digs. Traci Teague had a
game-high 15 kills on .303 hitting to lead the Quakers past Averett, 3-1.

Guilford notched a 3-0 road win over Sweet Briar Thursday. Brittany Freeman

The Quakers’ men’s soccer team fell to visiting Virginia Wesleyan Saturday,
5-0. The Quakers held a 12-11 edge in shots. Marko Mandalinic made two saves

Guilford’s women’s soccer team suffered its second straight 1-0 road loss
Saturday at Eastern Mennonite. The Royals scored the game winner with less
than eight minutes to play. Kat Adams and Amy Baker combined on six saves in

The Quakers’ women’s swimming team opened the season with a sixth-place
finish at the ODAC Relays Saturday. Guilford had four teams record
fifth-place finishes and sophomore Allison Semmler swam on each of them.
