Greensboro College volleyball improves to (26-8/15-3)

Winchester, Va. — The Greensboro College volleyball team earned the second seed to the upcoming USA South Tournament. The Pride (26-8, 15-3) certainly took the hard road on Saturday, besting Meredith and Shenandoah by 3-2 scores.

Senior Sha McDuffie (Winston-Salem, NC/Parkland) had double-doubles in both matches. In the regular season finale against SU, GC prevailed 25-21, 25-27, 27-25, 23-25, 15-13. McDuffie notched 20 kills, and 13 assists in the match. Dana Sandknop (Summerfield, NC/Northwest Guilford) passed 60 assists; Brittany Hunsucker (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale) had a match-high 22 kills; and Danielle Simpson (Mayodan, NC/McMichael) recorded 17 digs.

In the early match, The Pride defeated Meredith 25-11, 18-25, 25-20, 16-25,15-5. McDuffie had 19 kills, and 11 digs. Brittany Hunsucker (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale) added 17 kills for GC.

The Pride’s 26 wins is tied for the seventh most in program history, and is the best since 2005 (29).

GC Pride hosts a USA South quarterfinal match on Tuesday at 7 p.m. GC will host the winner of the 7-10 1st round match up, which is also at Hanes Gym.
