Sarah Lang(Page HS/Greensboro College) named USA South Rookie of the Year and lands spot on First Team All-Conference

The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for women’s soccer. A total of 52 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference teams. Greensboro College earned eight awards including the conference rookie of the year and two first team selections.

The GC Pride’s Sarah Lang (Greensboro, NC/Page), a freshman forward, was picked the USA South Rookie of the Year. She led all rookies by totaling 30 points on 14 goals and two assists. Both her point and goal total ranked tied for second in the Conference. Lang earned First Team All-Conference accolades to go along with one USA South Rookie of the Week honor this fall.

Joining Lang on the conference first team was defender Kelli Viana (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South). A senior, Viana helped a back line that allowed just 1.04 goals per game. She also scored five goals for The Pride.

GC’s Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ) and Meredith Kelly (Snow Camp, NC/Southern Alamance) were tabbed to the second team. Allegro, a senior goalkeeper, has posted nine shutouts, a 1.04 goals against average and a save percentage of .836. Kelly is a sophomore who tallied seven goals and dished three assists from her midfield position.

Senior midfielder Katie Timmons (Middletown, Del./William Penn) (one goal, six assists) made the USAS third team. Freshman T’Keyah Henry (Denver, CO/Denver East) earned a spot on the honorable team as a defender.

Sarah Hopkins (Greensboro, NC/Home School) was The Pride’s representative to the USA South All Sportsmanship Team.
