More on Rodney Purvis and Upper Room from Tim Stevens at the News and Observer out of Raleigh:
Rodney Purvis, the 6-foot-3 junior guard at Raleigh Upper Room, has led the club to a 4-0 start, including three wins by three points or less.

On Friday, Purvis scord 46 points in an 85-83 overtime victory over Greensboro Day. He scored 18 Saturday afternoon in a 69-56 win over High Point Wesleyan Christian, the host of the tournament.

Purvis opened his season with 40 points in a 98-95 victory over Red Springs Flora McDonald. He had 33 points in an 88-86 overtime win over Creedmoor Christian Faith Center.

“I had no idea he had 46 points against Greensboro Day until I saw the book,” said Upper Room coach Avie Lester. “He was very smooth and very consistent.”

  1. i was in winston a couple of weeks ago and upper room definately lost a game. they are not undefeated. lost to QEA by like 40

  2. Maybe the game with Quality Education Academy was a scrimmage game? Coach Lester made it sound like UR was unbeaten in the Raleigh paper, the News and Observer…..
