Last show at Shane’s: with Overman, Fields, Formica and Lanham family too…

Great way to close our football season run at Shane’s Rib Shack on Westover Terrace last night with Ogi Overman, Mike Fields, Brian Formica and we also got see a member of the Lanham family…..All in the house for “Football in Focus”…..

Ogi made us look good on the set at Shane’s, coming in wearing that three-piece suit….The Jamestown News editor has done very well for himself and he has taken good care of his business and also his wife Janet….Ogi says he is going to be going part-time/halftime soon at the Jamestown News, so he can finish his Beach Music movie and book to be called, “Ocean Drive”……

Mike Fields, the tough runningback from Southeast Guilford High School, had a super year for the Falcons with 1,952 yards rushing and Michael scored 32 touchdowns….That is quite a year, quite a career for some backs….Mike is a good kid and he has excellent family support, so look for him to do very well, when he moves on up to the college football ranks….Good job Mike Fields and thanks for being with us last night and making our last show at Shane’s a success….

What can you say about the success of Brian Formica at WFMY NEWS 2 Sports????This young man has the energy and drive and he is on a mission every time he hits the floor or the field and he always hits it running…..And running fast and furious…..Brian does so much with the high school coverage at NEWS 2, along with Brian Hall, photojournalist, and they make a great team….Brian Formica had one of the best features you’ll ever see last night on NEWS 2 Sports, with his inside look at the golfer from Asheboro with no hands and this guy from Asheboro with no hands can put the ball in the hole and he can get it out of the hole in hurry and then for him, it is on to the next tee…..The man’s putts, especially the breaks he gets on those putts as the ball heads to hole, are unreal….Super feature and we hope to see that one again from NEWS 2 Sports or maybe on the highlight reel over DigTriad.com…..

As we were wrapping up over at Shane’s last night, we ran into the mom of Jordan and Josh Lanham…..Josh played basketball over at the Greensboro Day School and his sister Jordan Lanham is now in her senior season, on the girl’s basketball team at Western Guilford…Jordan has blown out her knee twice and she is still trying to bounce back from the two torn ACL’s(anterior cruciate ligaments)…..Jordan is solid little basketball player and she has grown from 5’0 to 5’10 inches tall and hopes to get the ball and be able to run the WG Hornet offense, from the point guard postion this season….All Jordan is looking for is a break and not a break near her knee, she wants to put the brakes on those knee problems and have a healthy seinor season…Jordan deserves the chance to play a year injury-free, so she can find out what she can really do on the basketball court for a complete season, uninterrupted by any stoppage of play….We look forward to seeing what this young lady can do this season and always enjoy watching her run or move down the court, with that pony-tail flying in the self-created wind….Jordan’s teammate Brittany Clency is also looking to have a big year for the WG Hornets and if her name was Clancy, maybe she could be a distant relative of Sam Clancy, out of Pittsburgh University, who was super college basketball player, that later ended up playing pro football….You never know, but, we do know that Lanham and Clency are built for the road ahead and there looks to be a good season ahead for the Hornets……
