Greensboro College women roll, men hit a bit of a hole…(It was a struggle, but now “Tuggle Time” again at GC)

Emory, Va. — Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) scored 22 points as Greensboro College defeated Lynchburg, 88-51, on Saturday at the Emory & Henry Tournament.

The Pride improved to 2-0 and LC dropped to 1-1.

Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough, NC/Orange County) tallied 12 points and Samantha Greene (Lemoore, CA/Lemoore) added 10 for GC. The Pride led at the half, 39-21.

“I’m really happy with our performance,” said GC Head Coach Randy Tuggle. “We shot really well and played good basketball. It was a good team effort.

The Pride shot 50-percent from the field, 80-percent from behind the arc and 82-percent from the free throw line.

GC faces the host Wasps on Sunday.

Arlington, Va. — Daren Dexter (Sarasota, FL/Riverview) recorded a game-high 25 points but Greensboro College lost to Capital (Ohio), 79-70, in the championship game of the Marymount Tournament on Saturday.

The Pride dropped to 2-2 and CU improved to 2-0.

Dexter was 9-13 from the field and converted all six of his free throws. He was picked to the all tournament team. T.J. Holman (Raleigh, NC/Wake Forest Rolesville) netted 12 points and Luqman Tijani (Greensboro, NC/Page ) added 11 for Greensboro.

Capital led 37-27 at halftime. Chakiris Mioss made a three-point basket that cut the lead to 65-60 with 5:38. Yet GC got no closer.

CU had 43-28 edge in rebounds. The Pride committed a season-high 23 turnovers and forced 20 Crusader miscues.

Scott Robertson tallied points and Anthony Bell grabbed 10 boards for Capital.

The Pride returns to action next Friday night at NC A&T.
