  1. Andy, I’m really disappointed in your poll this week. I thought this was the one sight that did not ban-wagon jump. Smith beat the Number 2,5,6,8,9 of your top 10 teams. They lost one game they should not have lost to and then lost another to the #2 team who is in the playoffs in the 3rd round. 10-2 is still 10-2. Thank You for all you do!

  2. smith lost. Period. Enough said. They are home watching better teams play. They didnt play worth a crap the last 3 games and it showed in the playoffs.1 and done enough said .quit crying .hpc is better they are still playing. Better luck next year , not, smith is going to be terrible next year. They will get beat by 50’s next year. They nothing coming back. Better ask santa for some players.haha

  3. Just trying to get creidt to the teams that are still in the playoffs for their extended work and also to the teams that had the two-round and three-round runs….

Could have been a big week for Smith if they topped HPC and then went on to knock off Ragsdale as Central did….Smith would have been home versus Davie County on Friday night in a real nice postition….

Great season for the Smith Golden Eagles and not to take anything away from them…Coach Brewington knows the run this season did not last long enough and they could have easily been there tomorrow night if everything would have fell in place….Not to be and now we have to give it up to High Point Centarl in that bracket….If Smith can find a back to replace Elijah Jordan, if think that they can still be team to watch next year….Pratt at QB, Kiandre Thompson at TE/DE, FB Marlon Hughes(Hughs looked tough running in the second half against Central, he might be able to do some TB work.) and Miles Morris and a couple of the young linemen are back and Smith may not be able to take as many chances and go for broke next year, but they will be able to play….The more I think about it, the more I am liking that Marlon Hughes kid already as a key power back….Kiandre Thompson could show up as one of the top players in all of Guilford County next year…..He could become a better defensive end that what Ebron was if the other teams aren’t able to double and triple-team him….Can run and man that kid Thompson can jump….

Good luck to all our teams tomorrow night….HP Central at Davie County, Northern Guilford at Cardinal Gibbons and Northeast Guilford hosting Eastern Alamance….

  4. To Sith Lost: You are exactly what is wrong with professional, college, High School, Middle School and Pop Warner football and Athletics. High Point Central finishes started slow, finished strong, Smith started strong finished slow. That does not mean one team is better or worse, just mean one team is hot right now and the other is not. Why would call a group of Kids sorry? Do you know any of the the Smith players? Do you know the Smith kids or coaches? They are football players, my man, football players simply. These guys believed and they achieved some great feats this year. Conference Champs!! They had a great year, unfortunatley the loses came late instead of early. Smith still had a chance to win the ball game against Highpoint Central don’t forget, just like High Point had there chance against Smith early. I just want the politics to recognize that Smith going undefeated was a long shot, but 10-2 is steal better than Page, High Point Central…..etc….. You are right Smith lost, to the best team in the State, High Point Central had food poisining the first game. The lights at Smith were not bright enough. No need to respond because I will not be back on this sight. The body of work is speaks for itself. H.P. Andrews 28-6, NWest 35-7, H.P. Central 35-29OT, Dudley 28-0 Page 28-16, Grimsley 35-14, I’m proud of those guys, next year is a long way away so don’t speak so soon my man. I hope we play you again, be at that game.

  6. I doubt that “Smith Lost” is a HPC fan the Bison definitely respect the job that coach Brewington has done turning around that program, I personally don’t feel that their were 6 better teams than Smith in Guilford County this season, just like I doubted that their were 7 or 8 better teams than HPC when we were ranked low in the poll but nonetheless we didn’t take care of business in the regular season like we should have.

What everyone is seeing in the playoffs now are what us Bison faithful have been saying all year long, and that is that this HPC team is extremely talented and when they put it all together can play and compete with anybody in the state, we had some tough close losses to some great team this season but when all the dust cleared on the prairie these Bison were still standing (pun intended). Good Luck to the remaining teams left in the playoffs and hopefully we can do our best to bring a football state championship back to Guilford County this season.

  7. Thank You Bison Herd,

I am a former player at Ben L. Smith Class of 07. I left a year before coach Brewington got there. I can tell you that the football program was at a all time low. Like anything if it goes neglected will not be very delightful and such was the case at Ben L. Smith. Smith went through Coach McKee, Coach Gerald, Coach Montey Gray, Coach Oakley in 5 years before coach Brewington got the job. Smith, I love my school was off the hook because it did not have the proper focus on Athletics. I believe all of the coaches before Brewington could have done a good job given time. I have several friends and a couple of relatives that play for Brewington and what impressed me the most is how coach Brewington closed the weight room for 2months and made the kids go to study hall. I respect that, Coach also visited the homes of every senior and met with parents to give an evaluation of the upcoming season. I can’t remember if and when Smith has ever hosted a football Jamboree before. I just don’t understand why people down Smith so, so much, these are kids, kids, who are being given hope. I think sometimes we forget that these kids read these sights. I don’t think we understand that kids are still young. Let me tell all the young men at Smith no matter what a bunch of immature people say about you that we are proud of what you did this year, you made us believe again. We had fun watching you guys win the conference, we had fun reading about what you guys accomplished, we had fun watching you guys rise thru the ranks, we had funning beating that team across town!! We had fun packing the stands, we too owe you guys an apology for losing the faith but you guys made us all believers and we thank you for a great season. I thought you were rank based on how good you were and how you faired against common opponents and taking a look at that list you did a good job even if Andy doesn’t think so. Great Job, we will be ready next year to see you play your hearts again. Bison Herd, many of those kids were running the streets, fighting, getting into trouble and now they are talking to college coaches, I think that would make anybody proud….Appreciate your post!! Eagle nation!!

  8. The fact of the matter is Smith lost and was one and done. All the teams above them went deeper into the playoffs. They also lost to at that time a one win team the last game of the regular season. IMO, that does not constitute the best team in Guilford County, because if they were then they definitely shouldnt have lost that game.

Also, I agree that they will not be as strong next year. I’m not gonna talk about the kids in any way negatively, but they lose a ton of starters from this years team who were some really good players. On top of that, Coach Brewington most likely wont be there next year. Heard that he is interviewing for jobs in Georgia for more money. Can’t argue the fact that Georgia is the place to coach, so dont look for the head man to be around next year.

  9. If Coach Brewington sticks around and I think he will, he can get a better job after next year’s season if the Eagles have a winning record, than he would after this year, one of their peak years….

With Marlon Hughes and some of the other returning players in the backfield, they do well and say go 7-4, then Coach Brewington has put together back to back winning seasons and three straight playoff appearances, that looks ever better on his coaching resume……

If I’m coaching Smith next year and we go in with those goals and more in mind and pull out that type of year, we are talking much better leverage for down the road…..
