Eastern Guilford girls over Morehead in a Conference Battle

The young Eastern Guilford Wildcats battled and won on the road in a conference
game against Morehead. The young Cats trailed 37-33 entering the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Erica Olerich hit a big three pointer to close the gap to one 37-36
and Eastern never looked back after overcoming the four point deficit. Olerich
finished with a career highschool high of 13 points. Freshmen Carol Alston
grabbed a career high 11 rebounds to go along with 6 points. Senior Courtney
Torraine contributed a career high of 10 rebounds to help solidfy the low post.
Eastern was able to get a spark off the bench fron Sophomore Autumn Rumley who
knocked down 4 points . Junior Karima Jackson pressure defense allowed her to
come up with 6 steals. Freshmen Kierra Poteat grabbed 5 rebs off the
bench. Stony Brook University signee Miranda Jenkins scored 15 second half
points after sitting out the majority of the second and finished with 21 points
to help Eastern to secure the victory. Eastern young Cats must now face what
many are calling the number #1 team in the area and possible the State in 4A on
Wednesday night.
