Brandon Burkes will be Back when baseball begins

I’m not Santa Claus by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve got the feeling here at Christmas and this is one of my Christmas wishes, that Brandon Burkes will be back when baseball begins this season, over at Dudley High School….

Brandon Burkes is the kid that broke his neck the first week of football practice at Dudley, this past summer…He was in the hospital, he had a very serious neck operation and then went into a long, strenuous rehab process and we are just hoping that he will be ready when practice gets started in early February…

That will be a Christmas Wish for this week, that we can see Brandon Burkes back out there with the Panthers’ team and practicing baseball this season….

I heard our old friend JD Higgins on the radio this morning coming our way out of Galax, Virginia and he had this song, about a Christmas Carol by some guy named Skip Ewing and it really set the tone for the Christmas Season…JD has his “J’s Top Notch Brass”, every Saturday morning and this made for a good lead-in to our Christmas Chronicles…

I was on the run yesterday afternoon, and not from the authourities, but on the afternoon workout run and I really got to thinking that we need to get Brandon Burkes back when baseball begins…(And back cause the kid really wants to play again and not just satisfy our needs to see a good game…..)

Hopefully we’ll hear from his coach Larry Farrer or from his family in the next few days and we can give you a report on his progress…….

Until then we feel that, “Brandon Burkes will Back when baseball begins”…….
