Need to do something about these girls’ basketball blowouts: How about a running clock?

Remember that River Mill girls score from last week when they beat Community Baptist or someone with a similar name, something like 89-4?????

Well something needs to be done about these girls’ blowout games and how about going with a running clock when the lead for one team over the other hits 30 points??? That’s what Langston Wertz Jr. of the Charlotte Observer is saying and you can read all about what Wertz Jr. is saying on this topiic when you

  1. The River Mill game 89-2, was a Carolina 10 2-A/1-A Conference Game against Roxboro Community. (New team who just joined the NCHSAA this season.)

River Mill called off it’s press early in the 1st quarter.
The game was played with a running clock for the entire second half.
River Mill didn’t take a shot in the 4th quarter. They just ran through their various offensive sets.

They typically schedule 3-A and 4-A non-conference opponents, and they’ve accepted another invitation to play in the Boo Williams National Christmas Classic in Virginia Beach.

I was told that they definitely weren’t trying to run up the score.
