Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) and Chevena Pickard (Greensboro, NC/Page) swept the USA South weekly basketball honors, the conference announced today. Duncan is the Player of the Week and Pickard was picked the USAS Rookie of the Week.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale), Greensboro – The Junior forward/center averaged 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as The Pride compiled a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In an 85-56 victory over Meredith, Duncan scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out two assists and collected one steal. In a 70-49 victory over Averett, Duncan totaled 20 points, six rebounds and one block.
Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Chevena Pickard (Greensboro, NC/Page), Greensboro – The freshman guard averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game as The Pride compiled a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In an 85-56 victory over Meredith, Pickard scored 20 points, grabbed five rebounds and collected one steal. In a 70-49 victory over Averett, Pickard totaled 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block.
The Pride (11-0, 6-0) play at Ferrum College on Wednesday night.
