Congratulations to all the girls and boys basketball players that got the job done and were rewarded for it.

Jordan Robertson from Greensboro Day is going to The Citadel.

  • Andy said,

Did anyone ever hear where Jaleel Roberts from Greensboro Day is going????? He’s a tall kid at 6’10 and has plenty of room to add muscle and weight and he is one of the best shot blockers in the state along with Jacob Lawson at ORMA and Deng Leek at HP Wesleyan….

Where are the seniors for Southwest Guilford committed to play college ball; Shannon Buchanan and Brittany Connor??????

  • heard said,

my understanding they haven’t committed yet. There have been some offers from what I hear..perhaps not what they are looking for

  • the fan said,

bernie get life and stop worrying about stan.i’m sure you can find something else beside sounding stupid.

  • go appy said,

My understanding is Roberts from GDS is just short on the SAT and will not make a decision until he gets his score. But based on how he has played as of late I would think there is a tremendous amount of interest.

I do not see any male players from the Guilford County Public Schools in that list.

Do Guilford County Schools have a system in place to help the schools, coaches and players be competitive nationally so that some of the male players may be awarded Athletic Scholarships?

Have anyone from the GCS asked any of the coaches “how can we help your team be more competitive”?

  • Reggie Perkins said,

Scholarships come primarily from the AAU circuit..Oak Ridge was the only team that played together during the live period…If a kid can get in a private school, then they usually get the best of both worlds…Good academics and Good basketball…

What usually happens is a kid starts off in public school and then gets “recruited” after having a decent year..Look at the list..All of the local kids started out in public school except Jordan Roberts..Duece was at Ragsdale, Michael Neal was at Northern, Jacob was at Northern, Ike was at Asheboro..Ike and Duece play AAU together and go to school together..Same with Mitch and Jordan over at High Point Christian..They were at Page, and when Brandon Clifford got the job over there, they went with them; Mitch reclassed and Jordan rehabbed his knee…

I believe that a few of the public school kids will sign during the April signing period..A fewnames that comes to mind are Tyquan Roberts and Alex Smith..A division II school will probably take a chance on Neal Spinks and Beniah Wise if they dont get a Div 1 offer… Reggie Perkins is going to prep school next year, and will end up somewhere in 2012…

If you look at 2012, it’s just the opposite….Bryce Benjamin, Brandon Hairston, Drew Smith, possibly Leach and Hanner at SW, Frankie Eaves and Robert Kent at Page all appear to be on track to get some type of scholarship next year…

We may see the kids from Oak Ridge matriculate back to public school, and then the public schools will have more college prospects…

Would open school be the solution? If so, how would that process work out? I’d like to hear someone’s view on open school…

    I wish that was true.
