Greensboro College women win a tight one at Ferrum to go (12-0) on the season…

Ferrum, Va. — Nikki Wilborn (Graham NC/Graham) scored 19 points as Greensboro College (12-0, 7-0 USAS) won at Ferrum College, 76-71, on Wednesday night. The final score is the closest margin of victory for the 19th ranked Pride this year. Box score
Wilborn was 9-10 from the free throw line, including 5-6 in the last 29 seconds. Greensboro had three other players score in double figures: Freshman Chevena Pickard (Greensboro, NC/Page) tallied 16, Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) netted 15 and Andrienne Terrell (Omaha, NE/Decatur) added 11.

GC led 30-28 at halftime. Ferrum led briefly, 35-34, with 17:00 left in the second half. Wilborn drained a three-pointer 10 seconds later, and The Pride never trailed again. However, the Panthers did give unbeaten GC a scare late in the game.

GC led 71-62 before Ferrum (10-3, 6-1) went on a 7-0 run and trailed by two points with 29 seconds remaining. Wilborn then made 5-6 free throws to seal the win.

Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough, NC/Orange County) grabbed a game-best 11 rebounds for The Pride. GC won the battle of the boards, 47-42.

Brittany Bullock recorded 14 points for the home team. GC ended Ferrum’s 10-game winning streak.

Greensboro travels to play at NC Welseyan on Saturday.
