Guilford women put up 94 points in Double OT win over EMU

Guilford Defeats Eastern Mennonite in Double OT Thriller

*Greensboro, N.C. (1/14/11) — *Freshman *Gabby Oglesby* notched a
double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds leading the way for the Quakers
as they defeated ODAC-rival Eastern Mennonite 94-86 in double overtime
Saturday afternoon in the Ragan-Brown Field House. It was a competitive game
which featured 14 ties and 17 lead changes.

In a balanced scoring attack, Guilford (8-6, 4-5 ODAC) had six different
players score in double digits for the game. The Quakers took a 41-36 lead
into halftime behind the efforts of *Morgan King’s* 11 first half points.
Oglesby scored 10 first-half points and also recorded a game-high six blocks
in the win for the Quakers. *Jazlyn Gibbs* recorded a game-high seven
assists to go along with her 13 points.

The second half was a back and forth affair and it looked like Guilford had
put the game away when *Brittany Atwater* hit a three-pointer with :50
seconds left on the clock to push the lead to 72-67 in favor of the Quakers.
However a quick bakset by Shandell Taylor and a steal on the inbound pass
led to a desparation three-pointer by Stephanie Rheinheimer who was fouled
on the play and converted all three free throws. Atwater missed a pair of
free throws in the final 2 seconds that send the game into overtime tied at
72.

The first overtime saw both teams take a small lead in the game. *Logan
Terry’s* two free throws put the Quakers up by three with 2 minutes to go,
but the Royals cut the lead to one on a layup by Bianca Ygarza. Rheinheimer
drilled a three-pointer with nine second remaining to give the Royals a
two-point lead. Atwater was fouled with one second on the clock and sank two
free to tie the game at 81 send the game to a second overtime.

The final stanza saw Oglesby take control of the game scoring four points,
hitting both of her free throws, blocking two shots, grabbing a rebound, and
dishing out a big assist to *Kayla Adams* who hit a three pointer extending
the Quakers’ lead to 90-85 with 1:39 left in the game.

Eastern Mennonite (8-6, 6-3 ODAC) was led by the tandem of Danielle
Rittenhouse and Rheinheimer who had 16 and 18 points respectively. Ygarza
chipped in nine points while bringing down a game-high 15 rebounds.

The Quakers return to action on the road Tuesday (1/18) at ODAC-rival Emory
& Henry for a 7:00 p.m. game.
