When the “Boys of Summer” return to Greensboro, Andy Haines will be back as Hoppers’ skipper in 2011

HAINES RETURNS AS HOPPERS SKIPPER FOR 2011

(Greensboro, NC) The Florida Marlins announced that Andy Haines will be
returning as manager for the 2011 Greensboro Grasshoppers season. The
announcement was made by Marlins Vice President of Player Development and
Scouting and Assistant General Manager Jim Fleming.

Haines will be joined by returning hitting coach Kevin Randel and first year
pitching coach Willie Glen. Athletic trainer Masa Fujimoto has been
promoted from the Gulf Coast League to the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Haines returns to the Grasshoppers for his second season, compiling a 66-74
record in 2010. Prior to his managerial debut in Greensboro, he was the
skipper for the Jamestown Jammers and the season prior as the hitting coach
for the Marlins Gulf Coast team. Andy is no stranger to coaching; before
joining the Marlins, he spent seven years coaching in independent baseball
and college baseball. During his college days he coached current Marlin,
Brett Carroll. Haines earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern
Illinois University and a master¹s degree from Middle Tennessee State. Andy
resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife Erin and daughter Hannah.

Kevin Randel will return as hitting coach for the Grasshoppers 2011
campaign. This will be Randel¹s second year in this role. He spent the 2009
season as a player for the Jacksonville Suns, helping the Suns win the 2009
Double A Championship. Randel has been in the Marlins Minor League
Organization since 2002, and spent the 2003 and part of 2004 seasons as a
Greensboro Bat, compiling a .267 career batting average. Randel attended
Long Beach State and was born in Anaheim, California.

The 2011 season will be Willie Glen¹s first as the pitching coach with the
Greensboro Grasshoppers. He spent the 2010 season pitching for the Gary,
Indiana RailCats and is the first two-time winner of the Northern League¹s
Pitcher of the Year award. His 2008 and 2009 seasons were spent pitching in
the Marlins organization at both Double A and Triple A levels. Undrafted out
of the University of Evansville, Glen signed with the Toronto Blue Jays in
2000 and played with five different organizations, compiling an overall
record of 63-43. Glen resides in Avon, Indiana with his wife Niki.

Masa Fujimoto will begin his first season as the athletic trainer for the
Grasshoppers. He received his Master¹s degree in Athletic Training from
California University of Pennsylvania and his Bachelor¹s degree in Athletic
Training from Indiana State University. Fujimoto is a certified athletic
trainer, while also holding certifications as a Performance Enhancement
Specialist and Speed and Explosion Specialist. Fujimoto resides in Fukoaka,
Japan.
