Pride pair Powell and Moore double-trouble as Greensboro College defeats Shenandoah Sunday

Greensboro, N.C. — Adam Powell (Stuart, FL/Jensen Beach ) scored 18 points and Alex Moore (Raleigh, NC/Millbrook) had a double-double as Greensboro College defeated Shenandoah, 61-57, on Sunday. GC improved to 8-8 and 2-3 in the USA South.

Powell was 7-9 from the field and made two three-point baskets. Moore had 15 points and 14 boards while collecting his first GC double-double.

The Pride led from start to finish. GC held a 25-24 lead at halftime. The home club matched its largest lead of nine points (57-48) after a Powell layup with 4:32 remaining.

The Hornets, however, outscored GC 9-2 over the next 3:16 and trailed 59-57 after Avery Green (12 points) completed an old fashioned three point play.

Powell then made 1-2 free throws and SU trailed by three points with nine seconds left. Green then turned the ball over. Chakiris Moss (Richmond Hill, GA/Richmond Hill ) hit a free throw the game’s final point.

SU dropped to 3-14, 1-6. Kevin Kline netted a game-best 19 points for the Hornets.

GC shot 43-percent (24-55) to 37-percent (22-60) for SU. The visitors won the battle of the boards, 45-42.

The Pride next hosts Methodist on Friday night.
