Eastern Guilford girls return to winning ways with a victory over Rockingham County on Friday

Eastern Guilford Lady Wildcats got back on the winning track by defeating
Rockingham 49-43 after to close losses to preseason Top Conference ranking
Northern Guilford 38-37 on a last second winning shot and second ranked
Burlington Williams 43-39 in a game that was not decided until 2.3 seconds left
on the clock. Rockingham was preseason third ranked team followed by Eastern
Alamance. Eastern was picked to finish 5th because of four senior starters lost
to graduation headed by Conference Player of the Year Capricia Small
(Fayetteville State) and 1000 career rebounder Ameriah Jamison. Eastern was led
by Miranda Jenkins 21 points, 7 rebs, 5 assts, 3 stls and Sophomore Erica
Olerich who had a double-double 16 points, 11 rebounds. Senior Courtney Torraine did a great job by snaring 6 rebounds and helping to close down 6’4 center Autumn Carter in the fourth quarter whom finished with 24 points and 15
rebounds. Eastern improved its record to 15-4 and 8-2 in conference play.
