  1. The girls game betwen Northwest and Kernodle was a really good game. Northwest run 2 defenders and even 3 defenders at times directly at Kernodle’s top scorer and dared other players to beat them. The Kernodle girls stepped up big time and nailed 3 pt shot after 3 pt shot out of the over play. Girls middle school basketball does not get any better than this game tonight. I have not seen many high school games this year with girls shooting this well from the 3 pt line.

  2. I agree that this was a great game tonight at Kernodle. If the girls that I saw on the floor for Northwest and Kernodle are the future, then the future is bright for many of the local high schools. Both schools had 3-4 players that will clearly be varsity basketball players next year for whatever school they are attending. I think the normal district high school(s) for Kernodle would either be Northwest, Western and possibly Grimsley and for Norhwest would either be Norhwest or Western. I am sure most of these girls must be playing AAU basketball for someone such as the Gator or Phoenix. Does anyone know who (if any) these players play AAU basketball with ?

  3. Clearly the Northwest girls game plan was to double and trible team Tamera Thorpe and force her teammates to win the game. Emily Langenfield and Nadia Curry stepped up with big shots in the 2nd half. This was a great team win by Kernodle. It will be interesting to see if Northwest will continue to put all of its eggs in one basket and continue to throw everything at 1 player and leave all of the great shooters from Kernodle open again. The rematch at Northwest this Monday at 4:45pm should be a great game to determine the conference champion.
