Northwest jumped out to a 10 – 0 lead in the first quarter as Ragsdale got
off to a shaky start with 5 turnovers on their first 5 possessions.
Ragsdale could never overcome that start against the hot shooting Lady
Vikings. Northwest had a 16 point halftime lead at 36 – 20 and had
connected on 8 of 10 three point shots.

Northwest’s Michelle Williams hit 4 treys in the second quarter, scoring 14
points in that quarter and ended up with 5 threes and a total of 21 points
to lead the Lady Vikings. Kaitylyn Shelton was also in double figures with
14 and Natalie Harper added 13. Northwest ended up with 10 three point
baskets and went 12 of 12 from the foul line in an outstanding shooting
display.

Ciara Jackson was the leading scorer for Tigers with 19 points.

BOYS

Northwest 9 14 12 16 – 51

Ragsdale scored the game’s first 11 points as Benaiah Wise started off with
a hot hand with 9 points in the first three minutes. Ragsdale took a 7
point lead into the halftime break at 30 – 23, then saw Northwest come back
in the third to cut the deficit to 2 with a 6 – 0 run to finish the quarter.
When Drew Coble hit a basket to start the fourth, the Vikings had come all
the way back to tie the game up at 37. With the score still tied at 41 and
three and a half minutes left, Ragsdale got a three from Wise and a driving
basket from Eric Carter to take a 46 – 41 lead. After the Vikings Cody
Hylton hit a deep three, Tyquan Roberts scored off an inbounds play and Wise
converted an old fashioned three point play to give Ragsdale a 7 point lead
with 1:12 left. Northwest got it down to four again on another Hylton trey,
but just could not get closer as Ragsdale hit 5of 8 foul shots down the
stretch to wrap up the 56 – 51 win.

  1. Sharwyn McGee’s attitude and heart is contagious. Kids gets the most out of his game. He’s a fighter. Need to put his heart in the body of a few more. NWG has a good team. surprised RHS won this one. Good to get Wise back.
