Eastern Guilford girls fall to Burlington Williams 53-46…

Eastern Guilford Lady Cats lost to the States 7 th ranked team Burlington
Williams (19-1) in a close conference matchup game that stayed close through out
the game. Burlington Williams used its experience and hot out side shooting
from beyond the arch (8 three-pointers) to subdue the pesky Wildcats 53-46.
Burlington beat the Cats earlier in the year 43-39. Eastern Guilford got steller
play from freshmen Carryl Alston whom grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked a career high
4 shots and scored 6 points in the paint. Senior guard Miranda Jenkins kept her
team in the game by notching 28 points including two three pointers. Burlington
Williams were led by Daeja Scott 16 and Shantae Springs 14 respectively. Eastern
record 17-5 and 10-3 in conference play has superceeded the odds based on
preseason predictions of winning a total of seven games and a fifth place finish
in conference play. Eastern has two remaining games. Mcmichael on Tuesday and
Southeast Guilford on Thursday.
