Greensboro College women improve to (20-0)

Greensboro, NC — Nikki Wilborn (Graham NC/Graham) scored a game-high 20 points as Greensboro College defeated Ferrum College, 76-63, on Saturday. The Pride, ranked #13/16 in the national polls, improved to 20-0, and 14-0 in the USA South.

Wilborn was 6-17 from the field, made four 3-pointers and had eight steals. Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the home team. Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough, NC/Orange County) also tallied 14 points for the green and white.

Greensboro led 39-29 at halftime. The Panthers started the second half witha a 13-5 run to cut the deficit to 44-42 with 16:01 remaining, GC, however, then responded by outscoring FC 15-0 and led 57-42 with 12:09 left.

For the game, GC shot 36-percent (27-72) to 46-percent (23-50) for the Panthers. The Pride had the edge in rebounds 41-39.

Greensboro’s biggest lead was 73-52 with 2:02 left after Andrienne Terrell (Omaha, NE/Decatur) made two free throws. Terrell had eight points and five assists. GC committed 14 turnovers and forced 26 FC miscues.

Tesla Akers recorded 19 points to pace Ferrum (13-7, 9-4).

GC hosts Piedmont on Sunday.

Note: Wilborn is now the first Greensboro College women’s hoopster to have 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 steals. She needs 21 more assists to have 500 for her career.
