Greensboro, NC — Freshman Damian Dixon (Tampa, FL/Wharton) scored a game-high 21 points and made a 25-footer to force overtime at the buzzer, but Greensboro College lost to # 18 Ferrum, 78-67 ,in two overtimes on Saturday.

Ferrum improved to 18-2 and 7-1 in the USA South. GC fell to 11-9, 4-4.

Dixon took a drop-off pass from Daren Dexter (Sarasota, FL/Riverview) and banked-in a straight-on shot to force the OT. He was 8-15 from the field and made three 3-pointers. In the first overtime, Dixon hit a jumper with four seconds left to force the second extra period.

In the final period, however, it was all Ferrum as they outscored Greensboro, 13-2. The home team needed three overtimes to beat Emory & Henry on Wednesday night.

“We did not have much left in the tank and were tired at the end,” said GC Head Coach Bryan Galuski. “We did some good things, and it was another great game at Hanes Gym.”

Keith Crump had 17 points to lead the Panthers, which had five players score in double-digits. All-America candidate Derek Mitchell had 10 points and 11 rebounds, but fouled-out near the end of regulation.

The Pride out-rebounded FC 48-44. GC shot 43-percent (23-53) to 39-percent (30-78) for the Panthers. The home club forced 10 turnovers and committed 26 miscues.

Prior to the game, Dexter, Lewis Owenby (Black Mountain, NC/Owen) and Adam Powell (Stuart, FL/Jensen Beach ) were recognized on senior day. Dexter had 18 points for The Pride. Owenby had five blocked shots and Powell grabbed six boards.
