Greensboro College men fall 82-76 to W&L…

Greensboro, N.C. — Washington & Lee University shot 64-percent in the second half en route to an 82-76 comeback win at Greensboro College on Monday night. Alex Moore (Raleigh, NC/Millbrook) led The Pride with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

W&L improved to 13-8 and GC dropped to 11-10. Moore was 7-11 from the field. Teammate Daren Dexter (Sarasota, FL/Riverview) had 16 points. Damian Dixon (Tampa, FL/Wharton) and Chakiris Moss (Richmond Hill, GA/Richmond Hill ) tallied 14 and 10 points respectively for the home team.

The Pride raced out to 23-4 lead with 11:57 left in the first half. The Generals, however, clawed back and trailed 34-24 at halftime. The Pride shot 60-percent (15-25) in the first 20 minutes.

Jeremy Adkins (8-14 shooting, four 3-pointers) poured in a game-high 25 points for the Generals. He made a lay-up that gave the Generals their first lead, 67-66, with 4:48 remaining. They would never trail again.

For the game, GC shot 54-percent (29-54) to W&L’s 47-percent (25-53). The visitors made 27-34 foul shots (79-percent) to Greensboro’s 15-24 (62-percent). The Generals won the battle of the boards, 39-28.

W&L made 19-25 from the charity stripe and 14-22 from the field in the last 20 minutes.

GC played without starting center Lewis Owenby (Black Mountain, NC/Owen) who had the flu.

The Pride returns to USA South action on Wednesday night when NC Wesleyan visits for a 7:30 tip-off.
